Goal.com has suggested that Marko Grujic could join Hertha Berlin on a permanent contract from Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

Grujic spent the 2018-19 campaign on loan at Hertha and returned to the German club on another season-long loan deal in the summer of 2019.

According to Goal.com, a permanent transfer to Hertha from Liverpool this summer is “not out of the question”.

However, according to the report, a deal will depend on the impact the current global health crisis has on the finances of clubs.

Stats

So far this season, Grujic has scored three goals and provided one assist in 22 Bundesliga matches for Hertha, according to WhoScored.

During the 2018-19 campaign, the 24-year-old made 20 starts and two substitute appearances in the league for Hertha, scoring five goals and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.

Leaving Liverpool

Grujic has been on the books of Liverpool since January 2016 when he joined from Red Star Belgrade for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £5.1 million.

The midfielder is a very good player, but he has failed to break into the Reds’ first team.

At the age of 24, the Serbia international is not ‘young’ anymore, and he needs to find a club which he can call ‘home’ and where he has a long-term future.

Liverpool may not be that club, and perhaps the Serbian should look to move away from Anfield for good.
