According to Bild, Newcastle United are interested in luring Bayern Munich defender Lucas Hernandez to England this summer.
Newcastle’s huge £300million takeover has been dragging on, but should be done soon. With investment from the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund, Amanda Staveley and the Reuben brothers, they should be big money to spend.
Managers have already been linked with the club, as have players. Now, the Magpies are being tipped to make a huge, club-record signing should the takeover go through.
It’s claimed that Newcastle want to sign Bayern Munich ace Hernandez. It’s stated that the potential Magpies regime have already picked him out as a potential signing.
Bayern paid a huge €80million (£72million) to sign Hernandez from Atletico Madrid last summer, paying his release clause to lure him to Bavaria.
The 24-year-old has endured a frustrating season, playing just 15 times. It would be a surprise to see Bayern sell already, but maybe Newcastle can tempt them with a big offer.

Predominantly a left back, Hernandez has added versatility to play at centre back. He also played a key role for France as they won the World Cup in 2018.
Hernandez would certainly be a ambitious start to Newcastle’s new regime. He’s a defender with both immediate quality and huge potential, and signing him would be a real indication of the club’s ambition moving forward.
