It really doesn’t seem that long ago that Kieran Tierney left boyhood club Celtic to sign for Arsenal.
The Scotland left-back quit the Hoops to join Arsenal in a £25 million deal last August – the highest amount that the Parkhead club have received for any player in their history.
Despite that, and despite winning eight major honours in only a three-year period at Celtic, fans of the Scottish giants didn’t take kindly to him leaving.
But a new report from The Sun will have the anti-Tierney contingent smiling.
That’s because Arsenal are reportedly in the running to sign Nicolas Tagliafico, a left-back from Ajax.
Tierney has had an injury-ravaged first season in North London, and his fitness problems, combined with the Gunners’ reported desire to sign another left-back, means the Scot could be in big trouble.
He is also yet to play under Mikel Arteta, given that Unai Emery was in charge at the Emirates Stadium when Tierney arrived.
There is no guarantee that Arteta even fancies him and if these Tagliafico rumours are true then not only does Tierney have to worry about getting fit, he should start worrying about what the Spanish head coach has planned for him next season and beyond.
Because this link to a more experienced, more seasoned left-back really isn’t good.
