It has been reported by the Portuguese publication that the Gunners have joined Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig in the race for the 17-year-old winger.
The report has claimed that Sporting are trying to convince the Portuguese teenager to sign a new contract with a release clause of €100 million (£89.63 million).
Record has added that Arsenal have advantage in the race for the youngster due to his agent being Kia Joorabchian, who has a good relationship with clubs in England.
According to Goal.com, Joelson’s current contract has a release clause of €45 million (£40.34 million), with the report also claiming that the winger has been likened to his compatriot and legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, who started his professional club football career at Sporting before moving to Manchester United, Real Madrid and then Juventus.
Good signing for Arsenal?
Joelson is a very talented and promising young player who could become a star in the future.
However, the 17-year-old is still very raw and is developing as a footballer, and it would be quite costly for the Gunners to sign him for €45 million (£40.34 million) or even more this summer.
With the Gunners unlikely to finish in the Premier League top four when the season resumes, the North London outfit are better off looking at established players if they have to spend €45 million+ (£40.34m+) on Joelson.
