Member of famous South Korean boyband ‘BtoB’ Yook Sung-jae shines as main character in new Netflix series.
Netflix has an incredible range of original Korean dramas available to watch and their latest addition, Mystic Pop-up Bar is no exception.
The show tells the story of a mysterious outdoor bar that can travel around three worlds and is run by people who settle grudges within dreams – sounds crazy, I know.
The series is based on the popular webtoon Twin Tops Bar and has been widely anticipated since its announcement back in June 2019.
The first season of Mystic Pop-up Bar has only just premiered on Netflix, but one of the main actors has already caught the attention of fans.

Who is Yook Sung-jae?
Yook Sung-jae is a South Korean singer, songwriter, entertainer, model and actor that most people will recognise from boyband BtoB.
The 25-year-old was born on May 2nd 1995 in Yongin, Gyeonggi, South Korea to a well-respected business family. His father is the CEO of a successful IT company and his grandfather was the first person to introduce red carp to the country.
Sung-jae briefly studied in England and the Philippines before attending Hanlim Multi Art School in Seoul in 2014. He then attended Dongshin University where he Practical Music.
Yook Sung-jae: Music career
Sung-jae made his debut as a vocalist with BtoB in 2012 with the singles ‘Insane’ and ‘Imagination’.
Their 2015 studio album, Complete, reached number one in the Korean charts. Their later 2017 album, Brother Act, only reached 4th in Korea but impressively made it to 14th in the US billboard charts.
However, it was BtoB’s EP’s that really brought them fame, with Beep Beep (2014), Move (2014), The Winter’s Tale (2014), Remember That (2016) and Hour Moment (2018) all reaching number one in the Korean charts.
As a solo artist, Sung-jae had multiple successful singles, including Love Song (2013) with Park Hye-soo that reached number 8 in the charts. However, in early-March 2020 he released his own EP called Yook O’Clock which reached number 3 in the Korean charts and sold more than 26,000 copies.
Yook Sung-jae: Acting career
Sung-jae has also featured in a variety of popular South Korean television shows. He is best known for his roles in Monstar (2013), Reply 1994 (2013) and Who Are You: School 2015 (2015).
He also starred in Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (2016) as Yoo Deok-hwa, a role which earned him the Korea Cable TV Award for Rising Star and the Korean Drama Awards Best New Actor.
As well as roles on the small-screen, Sung-jae has hosted several popular music-talent shows, including The Show (2012), A Song For You Season 3 (2014) and Inkigayo (2015).
Sung-jae is currently enliste in South Koreas mandatory military services as a company band member.
