CSKA Sofia and Ghana’s Edwin Gyasi spoke to Modern Ghana about fellow countryman Thomas Partey’s future.

The Atletico Madrid powerhouse has been heavily linked with a move away from the Spanish capital. A number of top clubs are reportedly interested in him, including Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

The Telegraph reported at the start of this month that Arsenal are interested in signing Partey and that the £45 million man would be open to a move to the Emirates this summer.

Gyasi, who knows Partey well thanks to their time together with the national team, claimed that he has the quality to play for any club in the world but hoped that he will be an Arsenal player next season.

Gyasi said: “I think with his class of play, he [Thomas Partey] can play for every club. He is that kind of player you will love to have in your team. He can attack and he can also defend.”

“Partey can play for all of these teams but personally. I will love to see him play for Arsenal because Arsenal is my favourite club.”

Can Arsenal afford Partey?

Arsenal fans, much like Gyasi, would love for Partey to join the club this summer but a deal looks unlikely at this point.

The Gunners, like most other clubs, will suffer financially due to everything that has been going on in the world right now.

Splashing £45 million on one player could prove to be impossible for Arsenal this summer. But the same was said last year before they spent a club-record £72 million (BBC) on Nicolas Pepe.

Partey would bring in plenty of steel and energy to Arsenal’s midfield and Gunners fans will be hoping that the Ghanaian will listen to his teammate this summer.
