GTA 5 was recently made free on the Epic Games store and – if you haven’t already – you can still download the game until May 21st for the price of nada. However, despite the offer being exceedingly generous for the PC community, it has resulted in the now common timed out authentication with Epic Games online services error. This is making the game impossible to play for some with lots of people understandably complaining online.

While a lot of people are anticipating the inevitable release of the sixth instalment that is probably years away, GTA Online has been a formidable form of entertainment recently thanks to the rise in goofy green and purple alien gangs duking it out like hoodlums from A Clockwork Orange.

Yet, while all of that is thoroughly enjoyable, it’s currently impossible for many players to participate due to not being able to play GTA 5 thanks to an annoying timed out authentication with Epic Games online services error.

How to fix GTA 5 timed out authenticating with Epic online services

There is no reliable fix for the GTA 5 timed out authenticating with Epic online services conundrum.

You can try bypassing the timed out authenticating with Epic online services error by restarting the Epic Games and Rockstar Launchers, but this is a slim fix at best for GTA 5.

As for why the error is happening for many players, it’s simply because so many people are attempting to play the freebie title.

Issues with the performance of GTA V for PC were acknowledged on both May 17th and 18th, so problems with the servers since Epic Games made the game free appear to be common.

And this isn’t surprising seeing as the Epic Games store almost immediately crashed as soon as the free offer was made available.

GTA Online – timed out loading player data

Players have also been complaining about a timed out loading player data error for GTA Online.

This timed out loading player data error for GTA Online comes hand-in-hand with the above issue and is due to the servers being under too much stress.

Again there’s no fix that can be recommended other than just restarting the launchers and praying to God, but Rockstar have at least acknowledged the problem.
