According to Corriere Della Sera, Tottenham Hotspur target Timothy Castagne now has no intention of committing his future to Atalanta.
It’s claimed that Castagne won’t sign a new contract with Atalanta under any circumstances. The Serie A side now plan to ‘sacrifice’ the Belgian this summer.
Castagne is out of contract in 2021, meaning he’ll be able to walk for nothing in just over a year. That leaves Atalanta in something of a difficult position.
They won’t want to see him walk for nothing. That may mean they need to sell this summer for a knockdown fee, with clubs queueing up to sign him.
Tottenham have been strongly linked. Tuttomercatoweb have released two reports recently about their pursuit; first that Spurs wanted to sign Castagne, and then that they were trying to close a deal.
Het Nieuwsblad in Belgium then claimed that Daniel Levy would support a move for Castagne. His ‘profile’ – a young player with potential for high resale value – allegedly fits in with what Levy wants.

The 24-year-old is predominantly a right back who can also play on the left, and he has notched eight goals and nine assists in 82 games for Atalanta.
Castagne could head to Tottenham, offering Jose Mourinho another option behind Serge Aurier. With this news that Castagne won’t sign a new deal, Spurs’ hopes may have just been boosted.
