Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of the most popular games available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and recently its Online world has been invaded by gangs of goofy green and purple aliens fighting each other in hand-to-hand combat. If you’re an Epic Games store advocate but haven’t been able to join the carnage due to not owning the Rockstar title, here you’ll discover when you’ll be able to download it for free provided it actually is the mystery game set to be unlocked.

Replaced by the equally as good (and even arguably better) Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA 5 recently left Xbox Game Pass which many Microsoft gamers understandably complained about because in an ideal world they’d be able to enjoy both as opposed to one over the other.

However, as the saying goes, when one doors closes another opens with Epic Games store advocates reportedly being able to download the recent Xbox Game Pass escapee for free very soon.

Epic Games store mystery game: When can GTA 5 be downloaded for free?

The Epic Games store mystery game will be revealed at 16:00 BST which is when GTA 5 should become available to download for free.

Epic Games’ mystery game should be revealed and unlocked on their store at the aforementioned time today, and PC players will be able to download Grand Theft Auto 5 for free provided it is the title in question.

As for why everyone is expecting it to be the Rockstar title, it’s because a Twitter user named Wario64 captured a now-deleted Tweet from the store’s official Twitter account (via IGN).

This deleted tweet prematurely announced that Grand Theft Auto 5 will be the mystery game which is why everyone is so excited.

How to download Grand Theft Auto V from Epic Games store for free

You’ll only be able to download GTA 5 from the Epic Games store for free until May 21st.

Grand Theft Auto 5 will not be downloadable for free on the Epic Games store following the aforementioned date so you will need to be swift.

However, as of writing before the mystery game has been revealed, know that the Rockstar title isn’t fully confirmed meaning there’s a miniscule chance it isn’t the unannounced title in question.

With that being said, we’d be surprised if it isn’t.
