The UK has stayed in lockdown for nearly two months after the closure of many businesses, high-street shops and restaurants.
Following the ‘Stay Home’ advice, Prime Minister Boris Johnson gave the latest update on Sunday evening (May 10th) as he laid out the plan for easing the quarantine period and what’s next for people and companies in the next few months.
In the new ‘Stay Alert’ period, the PM explained that some people, such as manufacturing and construction workers, can plan their return to work but under strict social distancing rules at workplaces.
Boris Johnson hasn’t fully addressed the plan for the hospitality industry but many people have been forced to cancel their upcoming holidays and wonder when TUI shops will reopen as they struggle to get in touch with the company.
When will TUI stores reopen?
TUI stores should start to reopen from June onwards as per the UK Government’s latest advice.
In his statement, Boris Johnson explained that the government will plan the gradual opening of all non-essential shops in June under social distancing measures for workers.
TUI writes on their website: “In accordance with government advice, and to protect the health and welfare of our employees and customers, TUI stores in the UK are now closed until further notice.”
At the moment, only essential shops, such as pharmacies, supermarkets, post offices and bicycle shops, have stayed open during the quarantine period.
TUI’s 10-point plan
In a statement on Monday (May 11th), TUI revealed their 10-point plan for new measures and standards once they reopen their hotels.
According to their new plan, holidaymakers will be able to check-in online via their smartphones, tables in restaurants will be set at a minimum of 1.5 metres distance and sport and entertainment activities will allow only small groups of people.
You can access the full statement and new rules from TUI on their website.
Can you still access a TUI advisor?

Their opening hours are between 9 am and 5.30 pm from Monday to Friday and you can reach them on 0800 009 3836 or 0203 636 1997.
However, following the closure of their stores, the company has revealed that they have received a large number of calls from customers who want to cancel or amend their upcoming trips.
