If rumours are believed, Liverpool are leading the way to sign Kalidou Koulibaly [Le 10 Sport].
The Napoli centre-back is seemingly on the Reds’ radar, but they have competition.
Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked and given that they’re a financial superpower, PSG can certainly rival Liverpool with regards to any player.
But the Premier League champions elect might be about to get a boost in this regard.
That’s because according to Le 10 Sport, Thiago Silva might sign a one-year extension in the French capital and stay for another season.
The same report previously claimed that PSG wanted the Senegal international as a replacement the long-serving Brazilian defender.
But if Silva is sticking around then it means the big-spending Ligue 1 side might not be in the market for a centre-back when the transfer window opens, strengthening Liverpool’s chances of signing him.
Of course, this isn’t an exact science and other clubs have been linked to Koulibaly too.
But with the financial climate the way it is in football, only a handful of clubs could actually afford the £89 million-rated powerhouse and if PSG are out of the picture, that can only benefit Jurgen Klopp and co.
