Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden is incredible in training, according to one of his team-mates.
The 25-year-old has developed into a key player for the Magpies after it seemed like his St James’s Park career was over some 18 months ago.
Standing over 6 foot tall, the Newcastle star is an impressive specimen and he uses that physicality to his advantage.
Rob Elliot was asked on Instagram which player leads the pack during group sessions.
And the Newcastle goalkeeper said Hayden, whom he described as a ‘machine’.
He said during an Instagram Q and A: “Probably Isaac – he’s just a machine. He’s just one of them, like you say, who’s designed for it. He loves a tackle, has got a great mentality, always trains hard and has got that mentality just to keep running.
“He doesn’t like to show that he’s tired if he is. He’s got that brilliant athleticism and you just look and think, ‘Flipping hell!'”
Rafa Benitez spent only £2.5 million on bringing the 25-year-old to Newcastle from Arsenal in 2016, according to The Northern Echo.
It might’ve been four years ago but that still represents an absolute bargain by the Spanish manager – and a reminder of how savvy he was.
Benitez has been tentatively linked with a return to the North-East but Le 10 Sport have reported in recent days that they’re closing in on former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Pochettino, who signed Moussa Sissoko off Newcastle in 2016, likes a powerful and physical midfielder too, so it’d be interesting to see how Hayden might fare under the Argentine.
