Well, Luka Jovic might not be joining Newcastle United when the transfer window opens.
No, not because the rumour about signing the Real Madrid striker was nonsense in the first place – it might’ve been – but because he has suffered quite a bad injury.
Last week, 90 Min reported that Newcastle were interested in the Serbian hitman, who set the Spanish giants back a whopping £62 million last summer.
But Real have just revealed that Jovic has suffered a broken foot and therefore it seems unlikely that any club will be signing him in any capacity for the foreseeable future.
The club said: “After the tests carried out today on our player Luka Jovic by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an extra-articular fracture in the calcaneus bone of his right foot.”
Well that’s probably that for now, but the Magpies might be a mega-rich club by the time Jovic is fit again.
The St James’s Park club are linked to a £300 million takeover by a Saudi-led group which, according to The Daily Mail, could go through next week.
