Arsenal have been linked to a lot of big-name players in recent weeks.
From Thomas Partey to Dayot Upamecano, speculation is rife that the Gunners’ fanbase could witness at least one major signing when the transfer window opens.
But could their first signing actually be a teenager? According to Goal.com, maybe.
Goal have reported that Arsenal are in talks to sign Norwegian talent George Lewis.
The 19-year-old, who is a free agent, has been cutting his teeth in Norway’s lower divisions as of late, but Goal claims that the North London club have been impressed since taking the winger on a trial and that he’s done enough to convince them to try and sign him on a long-term basis.
If a deal were to go through, Lewis would initially join Arsenal’s Under-23 side, rather than go straight into the senior side like a Gabriel Martinelli or a Mateo Guendouzi.
This one isn’t going to send the Emirates Stadium faithful into meltdown, in the same way that the signing of a Partey would for example.
But any positive transfer activity is a step in the right direction amid the global health crisis which has brought Europe to its knees.
Mikel Arteta’s side haven’t had a game for two months and in times like these, it’s the transfer speculation – even the rumours about signing teenage unknowns – which keeps the fans’ appetite strong.
