According to Get French Football News, Celtic are interested in signing Lille attacker Fadiga Ouattara this summer amid confusion over his contract.
It’s claimed via GFFN’s colleague Manu Lonjon that the Bhoys have entered the race to sign Ouattara, alongside Valencia and RB Leipzig.
Yet there’s confusion over his deal, as it’s unclear whether he’s out of contract this summer or in 2021, with varying reports on this matter.
Ouattara, 18, hit four goals in six UEFA Youth League games this season, but has still yet to make his first-team debut for Lille despite his talent and potential.
A centre forward who can play for France or the Ivory Coast, Ouattara was originally on the books of Lille’s rivals Lens before making the move in 2017.
Celtic would seemingly view him as the latest French attacker they want to develop, following on from Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard in recent years.
Yet Leipzig have their own French success stories; Dayot Upamecano, Ibrahima Konate, Nordi Mukiele and Christopher Nkunku have all become stars with the German side, potentially making a move there appealing to Ouattara.
Celtic will hope that a path to first-team football can convince Ouattara to make the move, giving Neil Lennon a talented young striker to develop over the coming years – but it looks set to be a real battle for his signature.
