TikTok is huge right now. At first, people weren’t really sure. It was a mass of strange lip-syncing and dance videos that just didn’t seem to have any point at all. The kids and teenagers loved it, but everyone else was still to be convinced.

But now, nobody can escape downloading TikTok. Yes, it is still a combination of dance routines and lip-syncing videos, but it’s also turned into so much more than that. There’s challenges, there’s cooking recipes, there’s reviews, there’s tutorials for just about everything, and so much more.

TikTok has officially made it as one of the most popular apps out there, with people of all ages and even celebrities loving it. It has quickly become one of the world’s favourite social media platforms.

But the app is not without its downfalls, and being such a big platform, it doesn’t always run smoothly. So if you find yourself logging into TikTok and it’s really slow and nothing’s loading or working properly, what do you do?

Clear the cache!

What is a cache?

Caching is something that lots of websites and apps do that involves temporarily saving data to the site so that it doesn’t have to download it every time.

This helps make your app faster because all the data is stored locally, and the information will load more quickly.

Why do you need to clear the cache?

Over time, the cache stores lots of different files into your phone or computer.

If you don’t clear your cache, files from months or even years ago will be stored. Clearing the cache ensures that only the most recent version of the browser or app is stored. If a really old version is stored, your app won’t work properly.

So if your favourite app is suddenly not working very well, you may need to clear the cache.

How to clear the TikTok cache on iPhone

  • Once you’re on the TikTok app, click on the option in the bottom right hand corner that says ‘Me’.
  • Then, press the ‘…’ in the top right hand corner.
  • Scroll all the way to the bottom and in the last section there will be an option called ‘clear cache’.
  • Click on that and it will instantly pop up saying ‘clearing’, and then your cache will have been cleared.
