As uncertainty sweeps the UK, are Domino’s shops still open?

The current crisis across the UK has caused uncertainty, with many businesses having to close their doors to save money because people have been advised to stay inside.

On Friday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson issued a statement stating he would force pubs, restaurants and cafes to close ‘as soon as they reasonably can’.

Then, the Prime Minister went further, enforcing ‘non-essential’ shops to close their doors, and reducing the amount of walks people can take outside every day to one.

People are constantly searching for updates and information on where they can and can’t go and what they can and can’t do in the current climate.

Mr Johnson did previously leave the door open for food establishments to offer a takeaway and delivery service, which of course is what Domino’s does best.

Social distancing and self-isolation is impacting the lives of people up and down the country, and many may be curious as to whether Domino’s shops are still open…

Are Domino’s shops still open?

No.

Domino’s UK posted on their official Twitter page on Monday, 23rd March, 2020, stating that they were closing their doors for collection orders.

The tweet said the company will continue to deliver pizza, having introduced a ‘no contact’ delivery service last week.

Make sure you’re following them on their UK Twitter page for further updates.

There was no specific statement on Domino’s UK website about the current medical crisis as of the morning of Tuesday, 24th March, 2020.

Can I still get Domino’s pizza delivered?

Yes.

On Domino’s UK Twitter page, they provided information about how pizza lovers can still get Domino’s pizza delivered to their door.

They are introducing a ‘Contact Free Delivery’ option at the checkout stage of pre-paid orders for home delivery.

If a customer wants it, their delivery driver will call them when they arrive at their address to find out where they want their pizza left.

Once it’s been placed in the agreed location, the driver will wait two metres away to help prevent further spread in the current climate.

Why are Domino’s shut?

Mr Johnson has enforced the closures of restaurants around the country and has now gone further with his restrictions on how often people can go outside.

People are only supposed to go shopping for essential items – such as visiting the supermarket – and Domino’s have taken their decision on the back of that.

It’s important that people practice social distancing at this very difficult time and if people still want their pizza, they will have to have it delivered to their house instead, with Domino’s putting in safe provisions for that.
