Sean and Matty Longstaff surely have big futures at Newcastle United with Steve Bruce's Magpies rising up the Premier League table.

Sean Longstaff’s agents are looking to secure the Newcastle United ace a big pay rise but, according to The Telegraph, the highly-rated midfielder will have to up his game if he wants to be rewarded with another new contract at St James’ Park.

The academy graduate only signed a new four-year deal 11 months ago but he has gone from strength to strength since then, establishing himself as one of the first names on the team-sheet to spark relentless speculation about a move to Manchester United.

As a result, Longstaff’s representatives are trying to strike while the iron is hot. They want Newcastle to make the 22-year-old one of the best-paid players in Steve Bruce’s squad, perhaps in the hope that The Magpies will be railroaded into an agreement with the January transfer window looming ominously.

But, according to the Telegraph, Longstaff will have to prove himself on the pitch before he is handed a lucrative contract extension. Negotiations have apparently stalled with Bruce believing that the gifted playmaker, who was sent off for a wild tackle against Wolves recently, is performing a little below the standards he set during a superb breakthrough season in black and white.

Young brother Matty, however, is expected to put pen to paper very soon. The boyhood fanatic is living the dream right now, scoring a stunning winner on his debut against Manchester United in October.

The Mail recently claimed that his current contract, which expires at the end of the season, is worth a mere £850 a week. You’d imagine a new deal would take him into the thousands.
