Lo Celso’s start at Spurs has been stalled due to injury, but the Argentine is on his way back to full fitness now.
Lo Celso played 90 minutes for Tottenham at the weekend, as they picked up a 1-1 draw with Sheffield United.
Spurs’s display in the contest was a poor one, but Lo Celso did receive some praise.
And Winks has faith that the summer signing will develop into an important player for the side, after already spotting how good he is on the ball.
"Gio has come in and been excellent, he's shown his quality," Winks siad. "It's unfortunate he's got an injury and wasn't able to play sooner. Same with Ryan [Sessegnon].
“Gio's very technical. He can receive the ball in between the lines. He's got an eye for a goal and an assist as well, and he'll be a key player for us going forward.”
Lo Celso has already opened his account for Spurs, after scoring in the Chmpions League against Red Star Belgrade.
The attacking midfielder could well be in line for a run of starts now, as Christian Eriksen is not exactly putting his place under pressure, after a string of poor displays.
Tottenham are next in action after the international break, when they take on West Ham United at the London Stadium.
