Watford’s weird season could be about to get even stranger.
According to TEAMtalk, Quique Sanchez Flores is facing the sack at Vicarage Road just nine games after returning to Hertforshire to replace Javi Gracia. And, to make things even odder, the Spaniard could be replaced by another former Watford boss with Slavisa Jokanovic lined up for a second spell at the helm.
Sanchez Flores might have led Watford to their first win of the entire season on Friday night, a 2-0 triumph away at fellow strugglers Norwich City, but that alone might not be enough to keep the 54-year-old in the job.
Watford were far from convincing at Carrow Road and, for the most part, Norwich dominated the game and should have at least drawn a game in which their lack of ruthlessness in the final third shone through.
Sanchez Flores initially replaced Jokanovic in the summer of 2014 and, according to TEAMtalk, he could now lose his job to the man who lead the Hornets to promotion and the Championship title five years ago.
Jokanovic did a brilliant job at Vicarage Road but was never given the chance to lead the club in the top flight after a disagreement with Watford’s trigger-happy owners. But reports believe that he could receive a desperate phone call very soon and it will be interesting to see whether he will leave Al-Gharafa in the lurch to answer Watford’s call.
