The former Everton director of football, Steve Walsh, is scouting for Southampton, according to The Sun on Sunday (page 59).
Walsh was replaced by Marcel Brands at Everton in May 2018.
And it is claimed that he is being used by one of his old Goodison Park colleagues, Martyn Glover, to 'check on' potential Southampton recruits.
Southampton, who were beaten 2-1 by Everton on Saturday, recently lost their director of football operations, Ross Wilson, to Glasgow Rangers.
Glover is currently employed as the Saints' chief scout.
Walsh is best known for his time with Leicester City, for whom he scouted key members of their title-winning side, such as Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N'Golo Kante.
The north west native also worked at Chester City, Bury, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Hull City, before joining Everton.
