Rangers and Celtic are now reportedly facing competition from Nottingham Forest for Dundee United striker Lawrence Shankland.

On September 30, The Daily Record claimed of interest in Shankland from Old Firm duo Rangers and Celtic.

It was reported at the time that both Rangers and Celtic had scouted the 24-year-old striker against Greenock Morton.

The Scotland international striker was superb during his time at Ayr United, and he has been just as good at Dundee United.

Shankland has scored 17 goals and provided two assists in the league so far this season, according to BBC Sport, with his latest goal coming against Dundee on Friday.

According to a report in The Scottish Sun published late last night, Forest in England scouted the striker on Friday and are interested in signing him in the January transfer window.

Forest are aiming to clinch promotion from the Championship to the Premier League, and it has been suggested that they could make a bid of £2 million for the youngster.

Of course, Rangers and Celtic are massive clubs, but a move to Forest and the temptation to help them to the Premier League could prove too much to resist for Shankland.
