Everton's Lucas Digne

Everton ace Lucas Digne has taken to Twitter with a message for the Toffees fanbase and for Goodison Park ace Andre Gomes following today's Premier League victory.

Marco Silva's charges claimed their first away win of the season to edge out of the lower echelons of the table at the expense of Southampton, the Goodison Park side running out 2-1 winners on the south coast.

Tom Davies put Everton ahead after just four minutes, heading in from close range after Mason Holgate diverted Gylfi Sigurdsson's corner back across goal, but the Toffees spurned numerous chances as Danny Ings restored parity.

In the end, the Toffees emerged triumphant against the Saints as Richarlison turned home Djibril Sidibe's cross from six yards out in the 75th minute, a lead which Silva's charges would hold on to this time.

Digne hailed the important win and praised his Everton teammates for claiming the win for Gomes, who is recovering from injury:

A number of fans hailed the Frenchman's message and tribute to the midfielder:

The result saw Everton climb up from 17th to 13th in the Premier League table, a place and a point ahead of Manchester United, who host Brighton on Sunday.
