The Rams headed to the City Ground as Phillip Cocu took on Sabri Lamouchi’s Reds and the Pride Park midfielder struggled against their rivals.

A number of Derby County fans have been commenting on Twitter during and after their Championship loss at bitter rivals Nottingham Forest, with Duane Holmes coming under criticism from sections of the Rams fanbase.

The 25-year-old flattered to deceive for Phillip Cocu’s side, with his decision-making and final passes somewhat poor on the day and the Reds very much on top in the midfield battle, and in the end he was taken off in the 73rd minute for Jamie Paterson.

By then, Derby were a goal behind, Jayden Bogle having made a mistake with a poorly hit pass into the centre which was pounced on by Lewis Grabban, who made the most of the opportunity to rifle into the bottom-left corner.

Here is what some of the Pride Park faithful were saying on social media regarding the game, in particular Holmes’ display:

Holmes, who joined Derby from Scunthorpe United last summer for a reported £700,000 fee (Transfermarkt), featured plentifully in the second half of the Championship season, making 27 appearances in the league and playoffs, while this term he has 21 appearances in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
