Chris Sutton has snubbed Rangers' Ryan Jack when asked about Scotland's three best midfielders, but Ally McCoist has stood up for the star.
Steve Clarke's side have back-to-back Euro 2020 qualifiers against Cyprus and Kazakhstan next week and it'll be interesting to see if the Gers star makes it.
Jack has been immense for Steven Gerrard's Rangers side this season and it remains to be seen whether he gets the chance to add to his two international caps.
The 27-year-old was an unused substitute against Russia in September and injury ruled him out of the international break last month.
Clarke has a selection headache due to an abundance of very gifted midfielders, with the likes of Callum McGregor, Ryan Christie and John McGinn in the reckoning.
But Rangers legend McCoist is adamant that Jack deserves a spot, though former Celtic star Sutton has excluded him.
Speaking to BT Sport, McCoist said: "I’ll give the three...Jack’s playing, without doubt. He’s playing and so is McGinn and so is Christie.”
Sutton added: "If I was picking three, I’d definitely have Christie in, I’ve have Fleck in on form and...McGinn.”
On current form, Jack has to be playing, due to his heroics for the Ibrox outfit in recent months.
He played very well in the 2-0 Europa League win over Porto in midweek, setting up Alfredo Morelos for the opener, and on the whole he isn't somebody who Clarke can omit.
That being said, the Scotland manager clearly has a multitude of very fine options, as mentioned, so it's fascinating to see who he picks.
