Premier League duo Wolverhampton Wanderers and Palace want striker Karlan Grant from Championship form team Huddersfield Town.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace have been warned about making a January move for Karlan Grant with Huddersfield Town’s head of football operations David Webb saying that it would take a ‘pretty special’ offer to convince the Terriers to cash in, speaking to the BBC.

Grant has been one of the few shining lights in a largely dismal 2019 for the Yorkshire outfit, scoring nine times in 15 Championship games and 13 in 28 altogether since his £2 million January move from Charlton Athletic.

Wolves and Bournemouth are both interested, according to The Sun (3 November, page 61), though Huddersfield would demand a substantial profit with Grant now understood to be valued in and around the £10 million mark.

A Crystal Palace side crying out for a prolific centre-forward are keen too with the South London Press claiming that director Dougie Freedman has been on a personal scouting mission to watch a man born a stone’s throw away from Selhurst Park.

But Huddersfield, who have started to climb the Championship table since Danny Cowley took over from the hapless Jan Siewert, have little interest in letting their talisman go in January.

“I think it’s good for us that we’ve got clubs looking at him, I think that’s a positive, and obviously some of the clubs that have been mentioned are Premier League clubs, and Karlan is a very talented striker,” Webb told the West Yorkshire Sports Daily Show (7 November, 6pm).

“I think in football you can never 100% guarantee (that he will stay) but unless something ludicrous or out of this world comes in…any club in our position would look at it, obviously we’d discuss it and see where we are, but in an ideal world, no (he won’t leave).

“I would say it would have to be something pretty special.”

Grant scored a brilliant winner away at Brentford last time out and, if he continues in this rich vein of form, there is no reason why a reborn Huddersfield cannot march towards the play-off places in the next few weeks and months.
