Frank Lampard drops Chelsea team selection hint ahead of Crystal Palace

Head Coach Frank Lampard talks to the media at Chelsea Training Ground on October 29, 2019 in Cobham, England.

Chelsea are due to take on Crystal Palace tomorrow, as Frank Lampard's side look to continue their fine run of form.

Frank Lampard has told Football London that Ross Barkley won’t be in Chelsea’s squad tomorrow, but Mason Mount will be.

Barkley has been struggling with injury of late, but there was some hope that he would return in time to play on Saturday.

However, Lampard has confirmed that Barkley will miss out on Chelsea’s squad for their game against Crystal Palace.

Mount, though, who was also nursing a knock, should be available for selection in better news for the Blues.

“Ross is not in the squad tomorrow, he has an ongoing issue,” Lampard said. “Mason is in the squad. We will give him another 24 hours and make a call on that.”

Mount had picked up an ankle problem in Chelsea training during the week, but it seems that he has shaken off the injury quickly.

Whether Lampard will now opt to start the England international against Palace remains to be seen.

Mount has enjoyed an excellent season in a Chelsea shirt so far, so Lampard will be eager to pick him if he is fit enough to feature.

If Chelsea can win tomorrow the three points will help to consolidate their position inside the top four.
