The Celtic midfielder put in a tireless shift in Italy tonight.

Celtic star Ryan Christie’s impressive performance in a 2-1 win against Lazio in the Europa League this evening has massively delighted some supporters.

Neil Lennon’s men produced an excellent display to match the Serie A side blow for blow throughout a compelling 90 minutes, before delivering a win right at the death.

Initially looking ropey and conceding early in the match, the Scottish champions grew into the game backed by a vociferous away support.

James Forrest’s first-half goal changed the game. From that point on the Hoops had multiple chances to win the match but had to wait until stoppage time, when Olivier Ntcham popped up with a stunning last-minute effort.

It’s a victory that sees them progress to the last 32 of the competition, with two games to spare.

Christie was one of the busiest players on the pitch. Both defending robustly and giving the Hoops an outlet on the counter-attack, he was a big presence before being substituted off.

The 24-year-old has scored an excellent 12 goals in 22 appearances for the Scottish champions this season, also creating seven assists.

He may not have weighed in with that kind of contribution tonight, but his on and off the ball performance was no less important.

His rise over the last 12 or so months has been remarkable and he’ll be aiming to show off his skills in the final two group matches of Celtic’s Europa League campaign, with knockout football to follow.

These fans were certainly impressed with his display tonight, taking to Twitter to share their thoughts…
