Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola recently caused controversy by appearing to criticise Liverpool winger Sadio Mane.
Liverpool fans have criticised Raheem Sterling for ‘diving’ ahead of their game against Manchester City at the weekend.
Simulation has been in the headlines all week after Pep Guardiola appeared to suggest that Liverpool winger Sadio Mane goes down very easily, ahead of Sunday’s clash between the two sides.
It was therefore interesting to Liverpool fans to see Sterling make the most of some contact from an Atalanta defender last night.
When Sterling was racing through on goal he did receive a tug on the shirt, and the England international opted to go down rather than continue his run through on goal.
City were initially awarded a penalty, but VAR deemed the foul to be outside the box.
Sterling missed the resulting free-kick, but Liverpool supporters were keen to remind him about the incident after the game, when Sterling took to social media.
Gonna have to teach him how to dive properly he looks a bit rusty— LFC.Dave.LFC (@BuckRogers21stC) November 7, 2019

Guardiola’s comments on Mane have clearly added even more spice to this weekend’s encounter, as City and Liverpool battle it out for the title once again.
Liverpool go into the game with a six-point lead over City, but Guardiola’s side know that a victory at the weekend will put real pressure on Jurgen Klopp’s men.
