Norwich reportedly want Chima Okoroji and £9m Domogoj Vida in January

Daniel Farke the head coach

Norwich City need defensive reinforcements if they are to survive the Premier League with Besiktas's Vida and Frankfurt's Okoroji on their radar.

Premier League strugglers Norwich City are hoping to strengthen their defence in the January transfer window by bringing Domagoj Vida and Chima Okoroji to Carrow Road, according to reports on the continent.

The Canaries have seen their wings clipped with just one point to their name in their last six games, that famous 3-2 triumph over Manchester City quickly being forgotten.

Only Southampton (27) have conceded more than their 26 goals so far too, although a third of those came in that record-breaking 9-0 home defeat to Leicester City at the end of October.

So it should come as no surprise that Norwich have made a couple of new defenders their top priority heading into the winter.

Sabah claims that Daniel Farke’s side are putting aside £9 million to buy the experienced Croatian international Vida from Besiktas. A battle-scarred centre-back with a penchant for throwing his body on the line, Vida shone as his nation reached the World Cup final in 2018 and has won league titles in both Croatia and Ukraine.

Okoroji, meanwhile, is a 22-year-old left-back contracted to Eintracht Frankfurt. He has impressed on loan at second tier Jahn Regensburg this season and could provide competition for Jamal Lewis on the flanks, as reported by Transfermarkt.de.

Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber has a history when it comes to signing little-known starlets from Germany and Okoroji could follow in the footsteps of Marco Stiepermann, Christoph Zimmermann, Moritz Leitner, Onel Hernandez and Tom Trybull.

Chima Okoroji of SSV Jahn Regensburg controls the ball during the Second Bundesliga match between SG Dynamo Dresden and SSV Jahn Regensburg at on September 22, 2019 in Dresden, Germany.
