The Ibrox midfielder is having an excellent season at Rangers.
Davis has been an integral part of Steven Gerrard’s side since joining the club in the January transfer window.
He’s featured in all but one of Rangers’ Scottish Premiership matches this season and has started all three games in the Europa League group stage, with a fourth appearance in that competition likely tonight.
Similarly, Brown is one of the most consistent performers at the Hoops. Only Callum McGregor has played more minutes than him at the Scottish champions this season, despite being 34.
For Ferguson, who knows a bit about performing in midfield, the two are equivalents of each other.
Speaking on his podcast Fergie Time, he said: “I look at Rangers and I see Steven Davis. Scott Brown to Celtic is what Steven Davis is to Rangers.
“Davo’s not scoring goals but go and watch what he does. He keeps the ball moving. He starts build-up play.
“He’s just a very good football player. That’s where I can’t wait [for next month’s Betfred Cup Final]. These two are going to come up against each other.”
It’s certainly set to be quite a battle at Hampden, with both teams showing no sign of slowing things down form-wise.
Brown got the better of Davis in the last battle between the two, producing an excellent shift in midfield to help the Hoops win 2-0 at Ibrox.
However, Rangers fans will fondly recall a similar scoreline in their favour back in May, when Davis was the veteran star enjoying a derby victory.
Given Celtic’s cup record over the last few years, they’ll be favourites in the League Cup Final, but can Davis live up to Ferguson’s comments and prove he’s a leader and winner when it really matters?
