Crystal Palace, Southampton and Leeds United have all been linked with the teenage Dundee United talent.
Dundee United fans are expressing anger at Scott Banks after the Crystal Palace, Southampton and Leeds United linked player turned down a new contract at Tannadice Park.
The Terrors manager Robbie Neilson confirmed Banks’ decision after widespread media reports earlier this week, and expects the 18-year-old to run down his deal (The Courier).
That would enable Banks to leave for minimal training compensation – rumoured to be around £200,000 – with Crystal Palace again being credited with interest after summer speculation which also saw Southampton and Leeds United mentioned.
The Dundee United academy product was earmarked for big things by Neilson this season – so much so that the Terrors sought not strengthen in his position – having impressed during a loan spell at Clyde last term. But he has been used just four times in all competitions so far.
And the following Dundee United fans are not at all impressed…
If Scott Banks is leaving at the end of the season he should be left to rot. Very little training, no games. Should be made to attend all the social events and do all the community work. Little prick. No one is bigger than the club— ©️©️ (@ConorCaldwell9) November 5, 2019
All about the money, so good riddance.— Chris Hughes (@HughesChris89) November 5, 2019
Stick him in the stand for every game including reserves. Keep him away from training then let him go.— David (@dwjsinclair) November 5, 2019
Good riddance if that’s his attitude.— Doctor Bass (@Dr_Bass) November 5, 2019
Same agent as Scott Allan, Jason Cummings, billy king etc. So that’s another career doomed to mediocrity.— sexy Lewis Capaldi (@JHartWinks) November 4, 2019

Scott Banks doing a Scott Allan…the boy may have just ruined his career.— Craig Stewart (@thetartanarab) November 5, 2019
You’d think he’d be advised that it’s a rash decision.
Hopefully that’s not the case but he’ll either mature and turn things around or he’ll regret the day he turned down a new contract.
Looks like Robbie isn’t pulling any punches re Scott Banks. The bit about us not signing someone because he expected Banks to play makes me angry the most towards Banks/his agent. We’ve invested a lot in the lad and this is the thanks we get. #DUFC— Ricky Goold (@Graemereaper) November 5, 2019
Crystal Palace offered £400,000 for Banks in the summer transfer window, with Southampton expected to bid (Daily Record).
It was also claimed that scouts from Manchester City and Leeds have watched the attacking midfielder.
Fans of Palace, Southampton and Leeds – would Banks be a good addition?
