Dundee United fans are expressing anger at Scott Banks after the Crystal Palace, Southampton and Leeds United linked player turned down a new contract at Tannadice Park.

The Terrors manager Robbie Neilson confirmed Banks' decision after widespread media reports earlier this week, and expects the 18-year-old to run down his deal (The Courier).

That would enable Banks to leave for minimal training compensation - rumoured to be around £200,000 - with Crystal Palace again being credited with interest after summer speculation which also saw Southampton and Leeds United mentioned.

The Dundee United academy product was earmarked for big things by Neilson this season - so much so that the Terrors sought not strengthen in his position - having impressed during a loan spell at Clyde last term. But he has been used just four times in all competitions so far.
