Liverpool left it late to secure all three points against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Liverpool supporters on Twitter have loved how Virgil van Dijk reacted to Aston Villa fans chanting about him during their Premier League clash over the weekend.

In the second half, just after Van Dijk was booked for a challenge, the Villa Park crowd chanted ‘You’re just a s**t Tyrone Mings’ to the Liverpool man.

And when Sadio Mane netted a dramatic stoppage-time winner for his side, Van Dijk was seen cupping his ears to the home supporters, seemingly in response to those earlier chants.

Liverpool supporters did see the funny side to Villa’s chant, though it did seem as though it was just banter from the home fans, who would have felt that they deserved at least a point from the game.

Villa did take the lead early on in the game, and after a poor first-half display from Liverpool, they came back with full force after the break, with Mane and Trent Alexander-Arnold leading the charge.

Van Dijk was involved in a very crucial moment during the game when, at 1-0, he intercepted Conor Hourihane’s pass from inside the penalty area.

Had Hourihane’s ball found Wesley in the penalty area then all he would have had to do was hit the target in order to find the back of the net because it would have been a straightforward effort.

Nonetheless, despite that moment, Van Dijk was clearly pleased with Liverpool’s effort, as he seemingly enjoyed the chants that were coming from the home crowd.
