Report: Burnley want Preston midfielder Ben Pearson

Sean Dyche the head coach

Sean Dyche has allegedly wanted to bring Pearson to the Premier League for two years but will the Championship leaders Preston North End let him go?

Burnley are interested in raiding Championship high-flyers Preston North End for Ben Pearson during the January transfer window, according to the Sun (3 November, page 61).

Alex Neil’s Lilywhites are top of the table after 15 games but, with the January transfer window looming, the Lancashire outfit cannot get carried away just yet. Some of Preston’s top performers are almost guaranteed to have caught the eye of clubs from higher up the Football League pyramid with Burnley one of those keen to snap up a Deepdale fan favourite.

The Sun claims that Sean Dyche is hoping to add some extra energy at the heart of his midfield and Pearson, who has been one of the first names on the team-sheet for Preston in the last few seasons, would certainly provide that.

The 24-year-old has been outstanding in 2019/20, so much so that no one is talking about the fact he’s only found the net once in the last two and a half years.

Pearson won’t come cheap, however, with the Lancashire Telegraph reporting over the summer that the former Manchester United youngster is valued in excess of £10 million.

Interestingly, Burnley have been linked with Pearson since January 2018 (Mail) and Dyche will be hoping to get his man at last after two years.
