Everton and Tottenham Hotspur faced each other in the Premier League this evening.
Michael Owen has defended Son Heung-min on Twitter after the Tottenham Hotspur star was dismissed against Everton on Sunday evening.
Tottenham were in action against Everton away from home at Goodison Park in the Premier League.
During the 79th minute of the encounter, Son – who can operate as a winger or as a forward – was sent off for a late challenge on Andre Gomes.
The South Korea international was clearly upset for the challenge which led to the Everton midfielder being taken off on a stretcher.
Former Liverpool striker Owen has defended Son and believes that the 27-year-old should not have been sent off.
The former Manchester United player has also stated that he hopes that Gomes gets well soon.
Former Everton midfielder Don Hutchison has also stated on Twitter that Son was not at fault for the horrific injury to Gomes.
Spurs took the lead through Dele Alli in the 63rd minute, and Cenk Tosun restored parity in the seven minute of injury time.
Shocking decision to send Son off but that’s insignificant in the scheme of things. The wellbeing of players is the most important thing. Get well soon Andre Gomes.— michael owen (@themichaelowen) November 3, 2019
