MPs have been seen wearing a green heart pin badge in support of the Grenfell Tower fire victims but where can you get one of the badges?

Despite the somewhat tense political climate in the UK over the past few years, something that cannot be denied is that the British people remain as charitable as ever.

The annual Poppy Appeal ahead of Remembrance Day always attracts a lot of support each year and likewise, a similar movement in solidarity and condolence for the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire has also been gaining attention after the long-awaited inquiry report into the fire was published in October 2019.

On October 30th, MPs in the House of Commons could be seen wearing a green heart-shaped pin badge in support of the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire and naturally, members of the public have also been asking about where the badges are available.

What are the green heart pin badges for?

Over the past few years most prominently in the last couple of days, you may have seen the likes of Boris Johnson, Jeremy Corbyn and Theresa May, among others, sporting a green heart pin badge on their suit lapels.

The green heart symbol is something that has been used as a sign of solidarity and condolence in the aftermath of the tragic 2017 fire at Grenfell Tower that saw 72 people lose their lives and hundreds more left homeless.

After almost two and a half years, the long-awaited inquiry report into the fire was published in October 2019 and several high-ranking politicians could be seen wearing the green heart badges in a show of support.

Where can you get one?

Naturally, people who were affected by the disaster and others who simply want to show support and solidarity have been asking where to get hold of such badges.

While you can't actually purchase the green heart badges themselves anywhere online or in shops like you can with the Poppy Appeal, the site Grenfell Speaks began in December 2017 giving out the badges to notable MPs and members of the public who emailed in and asked for one.

If you are unable to get one of the 'official' green Grenfell badges, Amazon are currently selling a similar, but red, heart-shaped badge which is available here.
