Arsenal star Mesut Ozil played against Liverpool and could turn out against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has suggested to The Mirror that Mesut Ozil could play against Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend.

The German attacking midfielder played for Arsenal in their EFL Cup tie against Liverpool away from home at Anfield on Wednesday evening,

The 31-year-old played well for the Gunners for the 65 minutes he was on the pitch, as the North London outfit lost the tie on penalties.

Arsenal will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Wolves at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League.

Emery has explained why Ozil was substituted in the second half, and has also suggested that the former Real Madrid star could play against Wolves.

Emery told The Mirror about Ozil: “He played as we want, with experience and his skill to help the team.

“We decided beforehand that it was better for him to have a rest. He worked really well for 65 minutes. In my mind is the possibility to use him again (in the Premier League).”

Good decision?

Ozil has not been great for Arsenal on a consistent basis for a while now, and the German has struggled to establish himself as a regular under Emery.

However, there is no doubt that the former Madrid star is technically very good and is hugely creative, and him being back in the team can only help Arsenal in their quest to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
