Chelsea were beaten 2-1 by Manchester United in the League Cup yesterday evening.
Some Chelsea fans have called Callum Hudson-Odoi ‘overrated’ after his latest showing against Manchester United.
Hudson-Odoi was given the nod to start by Frank Lampard last night, but he struggled to make a positive impression on the contest.
Chelsea were beaten 2-1 by Manchester United yesterday, with Hudson-Odoi failing to trouble the away side’s defence enough.
And some Chelsea fans have been rather unforgiving the youngster, after he put in a poor display.
Starting to think CHO is overrated now— Khalz (@CFC_Khalz) October 31, 2019
Where are these 6 digit salary per week performances from Cho then?— Con (@ConnCFC) October 30, 2019
He’s been very lazy… hasn’t taken anyone on just passes back and useless crossing. Needs to wake up same for Pulisic and batshuayi— ThoCFC (@NYCBLUEBOY) October 30, 2019
I’ve overrated CHO as well.— Frankieball (@CFCThug) October 31, 2019
He’s good, don’t get me wrong.
But he’s untested at this level. It’s more of an issue in his head right now. He has the potential to be world-class.
Lampard has to give CHO the Pulisic treatment and bench him for 4-5 games. Let’s see how he responds.— Frankieball (@CFCThug) October 31, 2019
Starting to agree. I’ve always rated him very highly and I still do, but I agree maybe we’re believing he’s better than what he is at the moment.— FutbolChelsea (@FutbolCheIsea) October 30, 2019
He has truly disappointed in his last 3 matches. He doesn’t put himself into the game and seems to behave like he is the boss on the pitch.— _Elorm_ (@elorm_lucky) October 30, 2019
Wow someone finally said it. He really is overhyped. He’s barely played 20 first team games and he’s been spoken about as if he really is world class. He has a really, really high ceiling but to be on 180k pw and be spoken about the way CFC fans do.. He doesn’t do enough— Bobby Firmino Stan Account (@bevanR77) October 30, 2019
Hudson-Odoi’s performances in recent weeks may have been inconsistent by Lampard certainly seems to rate the teenager.
Lampard has shown great faith in the England international since he returned to full fitness, and he has regularly started for Chelsea.
Despite the criticism from some Blues fans, Hudson-Odoi has a fairly productive record, after claiming four assists in eight senior games this term.
Chelsea’s next match comes against Watford on Saturday and it remains to be seen whether Hudson-Odoi will be given the nod to start again.
