Liverpool’s youngsters progressed through to the next round of the EFL Cup after a sensational shootout victory against Arsenal on Wednesday night.

Caoimhín Kelleher lauded Liverpool teammate Divock Origi for his ‘unreal’ performance as Jurgen Klopp’s side secured a stunning penalty shootout win against Arsenal in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal made changes for this fixture, and it is fair to say that the youngsters delivered from an entertaining aspect as the match ended up finishing 5-5.

Origi, who started the encounter, netted a brace for the Reds, including a stoppage-time equaliser, which sent the Anfield faithful into party mode.

Speaking to Sky Sports Football (30/10/19) after the game, Kelleher, who was one of the hero’s during the penalty shootout, praised Origi and Liverpool’s mentality.

“He always comes up with massive goals,” Kelleher told Sky Sports. “He was unreal tonight and the whole team tonight we had a never say die attitude and we kept going until the end.”

The League Cup isn’t Liverpool’s priority, in fact, it is perhaps bottom of Klopp’s list, with the German more focused on winning the Premier League title and defending their European Cup.

The games are beginning to stack up for Liverpool, who have a seriously packed schedule coming up, so these youngsters could become even more important to Klopp.

If Liverpool continue to progress in this competition then it is perhaps fair to say that Klopp will stick with his youngsters even if they reach the final.
