The Charlton Athletic duo has been impressive for Lee Bowyer's side in October.
A number of Charlton Athletic fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the Sky Sports / Whoscored Championship Team of the Month for October, which features neither Macauley Bonne nor Conor Gallagher.
Bonne began the season as a back-up for the Addicks, only getting six minutes of Championship action in the first seven league fixtures of the season, but following an injury to Lyle Taylor, has taken his opportunity superbly.
The 24-year-old scored his fifth goal of the season against West Brom at the weekend, equalling the record that Taylor had managed before his injury, and in October registered four goals in five league games (Transfermarkt).
Meanwhile, Gallagher scored twice in October and continued to impress in defensive midfield for Lee Bowyer's side, with his tally now five goals and two assists from 14 Championship games (Transfermarkt).
Despite both players impressing this month, there was no place for them in the XI, and some Charlton fans made their feelings known on social media:
Cardiff can't keep a clean sheet and they get a CB in the team?— Valley Floyd Fred (@ValleyFloydFred) 29 October 2019
Where's Macauley Bonne? He's scored 5 in 6 this month practically?
Conor Gallagher.— Alfie Lee (@alfiexlee) 29 October 2019
when a striker scores 5 in 6 games as per @MBonne9 you'd think he might be in with a shout. Similarly possibly the best midfielder outside the championship in Conor Gallagher. Very surprised not to see at least one of those players in that 11 #cafc— Spacedoutcat (@soverncomfort) 29 October 2019

We'll just assume that Macauley Bonne scoring 5 goals in 6 games doesn't cut the mustard?!— Oakmont Black Sports (@OakBlackSports) 29 October 2019

Who decided this? HEY SKY.... if you haven’t seen but a couple of players from a team that was tipped for relegation have been putting in some serious performances @MBonne9 and Connor Gallagher deserve placed! So how about you rethink this team? #cafc #bowyersredarmy— Tom Vandepeer (@tom_vandepeer) 29 October 2019
Charlton currently sit ninth in the Championship table and up next for them is Sunday's meeting with Preston at The Valley.
