West Bromwich Albion U23s named a strong side last night with several of the Baggies first-team contingent in action.
A number of West Bromwich Albion fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Chris Willock's impressive performance in the Baggies Under-23s' 2-0 win in the Premier League 2 on Monday night.
With West Brom's first team not in action until next Monday, the Baggies took the opportunity to utilise several players in and around the first team, recovering from injury or simply seeking more minutes.
As well as Willock, the likes of Kenneth Zohore Rekeem Harper, Chris Brunt and Kyle Edwards were also named in the XI by Albion Under-23 caretaker manager Deon Burton in their clash against Swansea, while Ahmed Hegazi came off the bench.
Willock, a summer signing for The Hawthorns on loan from Benfica (official West Brom website), put in an impressive display as he weighed in with several chances and an assist, and also showed his physical side, with opposition players unable to wrestle the ball off of him.
Here is some of the reaction from the West Brom faithful:
Tulloch and Willock are different material

Willock should be in the 1st team

Tulloch too
63’ Goal for @WBA, good play from the Baggies with a inch-perfect cross from Willock met by the head of Zohore, fully deserved, 1-0

Not even necessarily into the starting XI, I'm just surprised that, on last night's basis, he hasn't even made the bench yet. Brunt, Zohore were missing this past week. I think there was room on the bench for him at, say, Boro

Dont actually see the point in willock if we're just gonna bang him in the pl2 side

Nah good question... but I’d give Chris Willock a run...

Zohore opened the scoring just before the hour mark, heading in a cross from Dara O'Shea, and did not have to wait long for his second, connecting with a delightful ball from Willock.before slotting into the bottom corner.
