Giovanni Reyna is reportedly a target for Premier League champions Manchester City - but is he more promising than Chelsea's new superstar Pulisic?

Reported Manchester City target Giovanni Reyna could be even more talented than Chelsea’s hat-trick hero Christian Pulisic, according to former Borussia Dortmund coach Jorg Heinrich.

Chants of ‘USA’ rang around Turf Moor on Saturday with Pulisic, the £58 million record signing (BBC), announcing himself as a Chelsea player in style. The winger scored a perfect hat-trick as his devastating display blew Burnley away, inspiring Frank Lampard’s side to an impressive 4-2 away win.

But Pulisic is not the only exciting American to rise through the ranks at Dortmund. Reyna has made a big impact behind the scenes at the Bundesliga giants after joining from New York City and, though he is yet to make a league appearance for Lucian Favre’s team, Heinrich believes that it is only a matter of time before he matches Chelsea’s new number 22.

"Gio is a fantastic talent. I think we are being a little bit cautious about his development," Heinrich told Goal.

"I think his talent is similar to Christian Pulisic, or maybe a little bit better. But we want to keep him grounded because we’ve seen what happens to a lot of the young players."

Gio is the son of former Manchester City captain Claudio Reyna and, according to 90Min, the teenager could follow in his father’s footsteps by moving to the reigning Premier League champions.

City’s chiefs are apparently ‘furious’ that Reyna Jr joined Dortmund rather than Pep Guardiola’s side when he left their sister club New York City over the summer. And should an opportunity arise, you can bet that City will seize a chance to belatedly bring the latest USA starlet to England.
