Manchester City are still six points behind Liverpool in the Premier League table despite Pep Guardiola’s side beating Aston Villa on Saturday.

Liverpool supporters on Twitter have mocked Manchester City fans for the chant they aimed towards Aston Villa on Saturday.

Man City won the game 3-0, with the home fans singing during the game, ‘Raheem Sterling he’s won more than you’ at the away supporters.

Liverpool fans on Twitter saw the funny side to the chant as they reminded their Premier League title rivals that Villa do have a history, and one that is bigger, and richer than City’s.

Whilst Villa have fallen in recent times, they still have a rich history to their name, with seven English titles and a European Cup in their cabinet, to name a few.

Sterling’s individual honours are stacking up, including winning the domestic treble last season, but Liverpool fans found it laughable at what they were hearing over the weekend.

Not only do Villa, who were recently promoted back to the Premier League, have more trophies to their name than Sterling, but they also have more trophies to their name than the current Premier League champions.

In the game itself, City, at the time, closed the gap between themselves and Liverpool to three points as the duo are set to go head-to-head in yet another Premier League title challenge – the points gap in now back to six.

Liverpool did lift the European Cup in June, but by the time the final ball is kicked in May, they will be hoping to have ended their long-awaited English League title drought.
