Championship quartet Nottingham Forest, Queens Park Rangers, Cardiff City and Huddersfield Town reportedly want Exeter’s League Two star Randell Williams.
Randell Williams picked a good time to produce arguably the best performance of his senior career.
Exeter City thrashed their south coast rivals Plymouth Argyle 4-0 at St James’ Park on Saturday with the former Watford loanee the undoubted Man of the Match. It was Williams’ pinpoint free-kick which set up Tom Parkes for the Grecians’ second and he put the icing on a brilliant display himself, scoring his first Exeter goal which a deft finish late on.
In total, the winger now has seven assists in 16 League Two matches this season, meaning he has contributed to a goal every other game in the fourth tier.
Suddenly, apparent interest from clubs far higher up the footballing pyramid is starting to make sense. According to TEAMtalk, a host of Championship teams, including Nottingham Forest, QPR, Cardiff City and Huddersfield Town, are keeping close tabs on Williams ahead of the January transfer window.
And if they were keen before, their interest surely would have been piqued ever further as Williams turned on the style on derby day. It remains to be seen where he ends up but, for now, the Exeter fans should enjoy him for as long as they can.
