Arsenal striker Gabriel Martinelli hit the back of the net for Unai Emery’s side again last night.

Robin van Persie has told BT Sport, during their live Europa League coverage, that he has been very impressed by Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli.

Arsenal forward Martinelli has made a blistering start to life at the Emirates Stadium since signing in the summer.

The 18-year-old has been used sparingly by Unai Emery so far, but he is proving to be a major threat.

Martinelli has five goals in six games so far, and hit the back of the net for Arsenal again in their 3-2 victory over Vitoria last night.

There is great excitement now building around Arsenal about the teenager’s talents.

And Van Persie thinks that Martinelli’s movement is already far ahead of his years.

“He’s young, he’s 18 years old and the moves he makes and dummies he makes, he looks very good to me, especially at that age,” the former Gunners striker said. “I was playing on the wing at that age! With time he will get even better, he looks very good.”

Martinelli faces a fight to earn a place in Arsenal’s regular line-up, especially as Alexandre Lacazette is now fit again, but if he keeps performing to his current level then he will be doing his chances no harm.

Martinelli is likely to be on the bench at the weekend, when Arsenal take on Crystal Palace.
