Rio Ferdinand has told BT Sport, during their live Champions League coverage, that Sander Berge would make a good signing for Everton.

Ferdinand watched Berge play against Liverpool for Genk last night, and was impressed by the midfielder’s display.

Gary Lineker then asked which player he would take if he was in charge of a club like Everton or Leicester City.

And Ferdinand responded: “I like Berge, the young midfielder. I think he’s 21, can take the ball.”

Berge has actually been linked with a move to the Premier League before, so it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if he had come up on Everton’s radar.

Berge rejected a £22.5 million to Sheffield United in the summer, according to HLN.

If he was to move to Everton he would have big competition for a midfield place in Marco Silva’s side.

Sander Berge of Krc Genk scores a goal during the Jupiler Pro League match between KRC Genk and KV Oostende at Luminus Arena on September 21, 2019 in Genk, Belgium.

Everton already have the likes of Andre Gomes, Fabian Delph, Morgan Schneiderlin and Tom Davies battling for a spot in their midfield.

Berge’s Genk side were beaten 4-1 by Liverpool last night, but his performance impressed and it seems only a matter of time before he does move on from the Belgian side.
