£90m Sergej Milinkovic-Savic comments on his admiration for Celtic

Scottish Premiership champions Celtic will host Serie A outfit Lazio in an exciting Europa League clash later this week.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has admitted that he is counting down the days until he gets to sample the famous Celtic Park atmosphere during Thursday’s Europa League clash against Serie A giants Lazio, in quotes reported by the Daily Record.

Celtic might no longer be a bonafide European giant these days thanks to a series of underwhelming campaigns in continental competition but their supporters are still regarded as some of the most vociferous and committed anywhere in the world game.

The Scottish Premiership champions will host Lazio later this week and Milinkovic-Savic, a player who has trodden turf at the San Siro, the Allianz Stadium and the Stadio Olimpico since moving to Italy from Genk, is exhilarated by the prospect of running out in front of a sea of green in Glasgow.

"The game at Celtic will not be an easy one - and I am ready for a big atmosphere. To play in special stadiums, in big atmospheres is part of the joy of playing in Europe,” said the rangy Serbian midfielder, who Sky Sports claim is valued at a staggering £90 million.

"It is not something to be nervous of - but something to be excited by.

"Celtic are top of the group for a reason - nothing is down to luck. The fact they are top means we have to take this game very seriously.”

Neil Lennon’s side have drawn with Rennes and beaten Cluj so far in the group stage but Milinkovic-Savic is by far the most gifted player Celtic have come across this season with his excellent passing range, thumping long-range shots and formidable leap likely to give Fraser Forster, Christopher Jullien and co plenty of sleepless nights.

Celtic will need their players, as well as their fans, to be absolutely at their best if they are to secure seven points out of a possible nine.
