Andriy Yarmolenko has told West Ham United’s official website that he is ‘ready’ to start for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, despite being left on the bench at the weekend.

Yarmolenko has been in magnificent form for West Ham over recent weeks, but Pellegrini opted not to start him against Everton on Saturday.

The Ukrainian did come on for West Ham, but he failed to make an impact as the Hammers slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park.

Pellegrini’s decision to overlook Yarmolenko may have been taken to protect him, after he went away on international duty.

But the 29-year-old attacker claims that he would have been fit enough to feature for 90 minutes if he was selected, and he hopes to start next week.

“I am always ready to play but it’s the manager who decides who will play, of course,” Yarmolenko said.

“I will try to show him next week I’m ready and, of course, if I play I’ll give 100 per cent for a good result.”

It seems highly likely that Yarmolenko will start for West Ham at the weekend now, as Pellegrini looks to help his side get back to winning ways.

The Hammers started the campaign excellently, but they have now lost their last two matches, which has been a real cause of disappointment.

West Ham are next in action against Sheffield United on Saturday at the London Stadium.
