The Wolverhampton Wanderers academy striker now has eight goals in his last five games for the Molineux U23s.

A number of Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have been commenting on Twitter about their club’s Under-23s playing out a seven-goal thriller with Liverpool’s Under-23s and Wolves prodigy Benny Ashley-Seal won plenty of plaudits for his goalscoring display.

The 20-year-old continued his prolific form for the Molineux youngsters by netting twice against the Reds U23s, picking himself up after being fouled in the box to convert a penalty and cancel out Rhian Brewster’s opener.

Although Liverpool retook and then extended their lead through Herbie Kane, Leighton Clarkson and a second from Brewster, Ashley-Seal went on to also claim his second of the game to make it 4-2 and substitute Boubacar Hanne then netted in the 89th minute to set up a dramatic finale.

In the end Wolves just fell short of finding a heroic fourth but it was nonetheless a gutsy display and some Molineux faithful on social media praised their U23s’ display, in particular Ashley-Seal, who now has eight goals in five:

Ashley-Seal, who was previously on the books of Norwich City and on the radar of Chelsea and Leicester City (Birmingham Mail), penned a new Wolves deal in January until the end of the 2021-22 campaign, as confirmed by the official club site.

Wolves U23s are next in action at home to Tottenham Hotspur U23s on Saturday.
