Tony Cascarino has claimed that Mauricio Pochettino 'doesn't have a clue' who should be playing in his backline, as he blasted the Tottenham man for getting his team selection wrong against Watford.

Spurs conceded an early goal during the game, with the winless Hornets going into the half-time break with a lead, which forced Pochettino to make a tactical change to his system.

Whilst his side didn't go on to secure all three points, it did help them pick up a point when Dele Alli found the back of the net in controversial fashion.

Speaking to Weekend Sports Breakfast on TalkSport (20/10/2019 at 8:00 am), Cascarino was critical of Pochettino's decision-making, as he suggested that he's not sure who to pick.

"Pochettino got his team selection wrong," Cascarino told TalkSport. "Whatever you say, at the start of the game, if you set up one way and it's wrong. You set the team up.

"He's not sure of his XI, he doesn't know. Certainly his back four and five, he doesn't have a clue who he thinks is his best player to stick in there, at this moment - there are a number of players in the Spurs squad who you can say that they don't deserve a place in the starting XI."

Pochettino's struggle to get an XI out there that will tick for him is proving to be a serious problem even though all of these players helped the Argentine reach the Champions League final in June.

it mainly boils down to certain Spurs players not knowing whether or not they will be at the club next summer, which doesn't help anyone's cause.

Therefore, whilst Pochettino knows his best XI on paper, those very same players clearly aren't producing the goods that won them plaudits in previous seasons.
